SUPPORTING STUDENTS TOWARDS READING
From 4 years old.
From 2nd kindergarten.
How can kindergarten encourage children to start reading? It's not about anticipating learning, but about supporting children in their reading process. This book provides the keys and tools to help teachers conduct this learning, with around thirty activities explained (objectives sought, materials, implementation, variations and extensions).
Content: 85 pages and 14 illustrated cardboard pages. A4 format.
Varied activities:
• Discover the variety of writing: posters, packaging, etc.
• Become aware of the “materiality” of spoken language: separate words, invent animal names, syllables, etc.
• Coding activities, with drawings and symbols: albums, musical tales, motor skills courses, nursery rhymes, etc.
• Move from one code to another: cooking recipe, Christmas order, list, etc.
• Produce writings with a code: nursery rhymes, songs, newspaper…
• Go from word to sentence: cut a sentence into labels…
• Go from sentence to text: story, letter, summary…
